Steel components for a power transmission system sfter coating/polishing with CT-33
CT-33 Aluminum-Filled Ceramic Coatings

Product Description

CT-33 coating systems are inorganically bonded aluminum coatings developed specifically for high and cyclic temperature resistance and for certain corrosion applications in a salt environment. These coatings also feature excellent thermal stability and hardness along with good flexibility and superior adhesion. As service temperature increases, corrosion and oxidation protection also increase providing an optimum temperature range of 900°F to 1600°F for oxidizing environments. Thermal shock characteristics are outstanding, as the coating will remain totally adherent to most metals after repeated cycling between 1100°F and ambient temperature. When polished to a metallic luster, the surface becomes electrically conductive affording sacrificial and vastly improved corrosion protection.

Advantages

  • Protects against cyclic corrosion and oxidation in gas turbine applications
  • Tested, approved and specified by leading manufacturers of gas turbine engines.
  • An alternative to plating on vehicle exhaust systems
  • Provides improved resistance to corrosion, erosion, metal fatigue, thermal shock, heat and thermal oxidation
  • Provides sacrificial corrosion protection to all steels and to most aluminum alloys
  • Provides an aluminization capability without a large capital equipment investment.
  • An ideal coating for furnace liners, racks, trays, trays, fans and supports, eliminating the need for more oxidation resistant alloys
  • An excellent primer for use in conjunction with numerous coatings and adhesives.
  • High temperature corrosion resistance: protection to 1100°F
  • High temperature oxidation resistance: protection to 1600°F
  • Outstanding thermal shock stability; maintains adhesion after repeated cycling between 1100°F and ambient temperatures
  • Superior adhesion
  • Excellent hardness and flexibility
  • Outstanding salt spray and marine protection
  • Polishes to chrome-like finish
  • Electrically conductive when polished
  • Improved resistance to erosion and metal fatigue
  • Easy-to-apply single-component compound
  • Water soluble for easy clean-up

Applications

All CT-33 coatings are suitable for the following applications unless otherwise noted:

  • Gas turbines: protects against cyclic corrosion and oxidation; tested, approved and specified by leading manufacturers (CT-33, CT-33M)
  • Vehicle exhaust systems: alternative to plating (CT-33M, CT-33H)
  • Furnace liners, racks, trays, fans and supports: CT-33 coating eliminates need for more oxidation resistant alloys
  • Steels, aluminum: galvanic corrosion resistance
  • Primer in conjunction with other coatings/adhesives
  • Aluminization capability without a large capital equipment investment
